05.06.07: Coley on iTunes and more
Starting this week, you will be able to download Coley's songs on iTunes. Both albums, Crossing the Rubicon and Extended Play, will be available. New pictures and videos from the show with David Usher will be available in the media section, as well as on the Myspace page. We are working on booking the summer tour, so check back often to see if any new dates have been added.
11.20.06: New T-SHIRTS fresh off the presses!!!
New T-Shirts are in!! Pictures soon to be posted in the Downloadables section (under Media). The great people at Lemira Clothing have done an amazing job at making these. Their support of the band has been incredible, and the boys truly appreciate it. Orders for the new T's can be made via email by sending a message to coley@coleymusic.com. We - with a little help from Paypal - will take care of the rest.
11.18.06: Back from the US with news and movies!
The boys are back from shows in Boston and New York for the International Pop Overthrow. The shows went well, although it would have made it more fun in front of a packed house. Still, well worth the trip! The boys are in love with Boston! The new album, Crossing the Rubicon has earned itself one of the best reviews we're ever read in the Sherbrooke Tribune. Read a rough translation of it in the PRESS (under LIVE) section. The album essentially got a better grade than the Who's new album. Great feedback is coming from everywhere, a PR firm from Las Vegas compared Coley's writing and performance to that of a young David Bowie. It might be a bit far fetched, but they'll definitely take it. More videos are on the way, straight from the trip to International Pop Overthrow. We're working on more pictures, and a few more shows are on the way....
9.15.06: Back from tour, preparing the next
The band has been back for a few weeks now, and we're still working on collecting all the pictures, and video footage from different places. There should be a picture AND video update soon for everyone to enjoy. JF's diary will also be updated, so people can read it from the band's perspective. A lot of positive feedback came from this trek westwards, and the band will be going back soon. The band has also been invited to participate in International Pop Overthrow in Boston and New York City, which will be held in November. The guys will also be performing at Alexander Galt High School to raise money for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope. Many more things will be going down this fall, and there should be more shows adding up, so come back to check it out. Visit the rest of the website, as more and more updates are added.
7.28.06: Veni, Vidi, Vici
We apologize, once again, for the delay in the updates. We have been very busy, and the whole team has been working extra shifts to get everything synchronized. First off, check out the live section to find out more details about all the tour dates as they get confirmed. It looks like it will be a busy two weeks this August. Secondly, Karl-Yves Hovington has been very busy getting all the CD layout finished so we can have the release as planned. Thirdly, the boys are having the release!! But they thought they'd be creative with this one. And instead of having just one release, they decided to release the album in every city they go to. The album - Crossing the Rubicon - will be promoted on the "Veni, Vidi, Vici" tour. The album is a historical reference to Julius Caesar's invasion of Rome, and so it is only fitting that the tour be named after a famous quote of his. The boys will be on CFLX radio this Saturday (July 29th) at 3pm, on Generation Rock this Friday (28th) at 8am and the 9th of August at 8am too, on Astral Media on August 1st at 7:45 am, and on TQS (channel 5 locally) at 3pm on August 7th... and this is just the local events! Come out Friday for the show, and be there for the 9th!!
5.29.06: Long overdue update
One month has gone by, and we promise to make bigger efforts to keep everyone posted as to what's going on. The band has played a few shows, and everywhere the reception is great. Things are looking up, though they'd still like to be on the road more often!! The guys had a photo shoot with David Bazinet, who took the pictures at the last April Wine show. Hopefully we get these out soon. There is also a new logo, which should be available in the downloadables section soon. More shows are being added as the summer moves forward, so be sure to check back often. The album will be released this summer as well, so keep an eye out for that too. JF has also updated the diary entries. More frequent updates are coming, we promise!
4.30.06: Happy Birthday Jerry!!
Coley was out in full force on Thursday April 29th. The reasons being twofold.. First, it was their first show at the legendary Bourbon Street West in Montreal. And secondly, it was Jerry Mercer's (April Wine) birthday. The guys opened, once again, for the Canadian rock band, and did a great job at warming up the crowd. Transplanted Townshippers galore came up to say hello to the boys after the show. Even Jean Marc Pisapia of The Box came out to (albeit late) see the boys. Backstage, Jerry talked about jamming with Janis Joplin and Buddy Guy on the Via Tour. Coley has a new logo ready to be unleashed on the world (thanks to Louis Rene Labrecque), and they are working with a local graphic designer on the CD layout. Things should start moving soon... more and more shows are being added on as the summer approachers, so be sure to come back often! And check out the pic section (under media) for NEW pictures! More to come...
3.19.06: Shows and more shows
The boys had a great show last friday as 800-900 people showed up to see them open for April Wine. Neal is no longer with the band. He left with an email, on Tuesday morning, three days before big show. However, Sherbrooke bass player Pascal Desmarais stepped in with two rehearsals, and has turned out to be the missing link. We strongly encourage you to come out to the next shows, and see for yourself what the new guy brings to the table. The band is being booked for a tour in April/May, keep coming back for more info. The April 7th show with Longue Distance has been cancelled... because something bigger is in the works with the same production company... stay tuned for more!! Pics are on the way, we promise!!
3.2.06: New Gear at the studio
Gamer Studio has some new gear it's proud of. A new AMD computer that rocks some serious bottom, an RME FireFace sound card and a new set of drum mics are a few of the new things found at Gamer Studios now. More and more bands have come by and recorded with JF, and the Spotlight on the Townships show will start airing on Sunday. Be sure to check it out at www.cjmq.fm. Don't forget about JF's show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Montreal tomorrow! Read about it, and Wednesday's show in the Diary section.
2.4.06: Two shows in Montreal
The boys will be performing in Montreal. On March 1st, Indica Records has invited the band to open for James Murdoch and Ian Kelley. The show will be at the Petit Campus, in Montreal. Broken Pictures has also asked the boys to open for them at the Hard Rock Cafe, near Crescent, in Montreal. This show is on March 3rd. Don't forget to tune in tomorrow night for JF's interview with Tootall on CHOM fm.
1.27.06: JF on CHOM 97.7
JF was contacted by CHOM's Tootall about a feature on Made in Canada. It would air February 5th at 9pm on CHOM 97.7. Be sure to tune in!! Also, CDs and T-shirts (as well as stickers) can be ordered online now via Paypal and credit card. Just email coley@coleymusic.com with what you would like to order, and an invoice will be sent to your email account. Orders have already been sent out to Vancouver, Windsor (Ontario) and England!
1.8.06: The t-shirts are IN *pun intended*
The new t-shirts are in, and have been selling like hotcakes. Wearers of the t-shirts have been spotted as far away as British Columbia and Tennessee. Previews of the shirts are in the downloadable section. You can email JF at coley@coleymusic.com to figure out a way to get your own shirt mailed to you. The show at the College Mont Notre Dame was a success, and we should have video footage to show you guys soon. Two new musicians were on stage with JF for the show, Mike and John, on guitar and bass. Neal broke his ankle saving a family from a burning building (not really, but it sounds better than the real story. More shows to be announced soon. Also, check out iRadio and Bandradio.com where you can request JF's music already. They have been playing a few of his songs, even though the album isn't out yet. More on that to come as well.
11.16.05: JF’s spotlight on the townships is on the move!!
JF’s Spotlight on the Townships project is going along great. More and more bands are signing up, three are already recorded. The shows will start airing soon. The idea behind the project is that bands get a chance to come record for free at Gamer Studios, where JF produces a single for them. This single is then entered into rotation at CJMQ radio, and promoted across the country. There will be samples of the material on this website, in the Radio section (check links). Check out the Radio link for more details on this project as well. JF’s goal with this project is to stimulate the local music scene, and try to give the Eastern Townships it’s own voice once again. Big props are to be given to David Teasdale, CJMQ’s station manager, who was able to see the value of such a project, and has given us much needed support.
10.30.05: One Canuck amongst Yanks, Songwriting contest finish
JF was awarded a 6th (honorable mention) place in the American Songwriter Songwriting competition for Soapbox Song. This same song is also on rotation on iRadio LA (Los Angeles). The song was entered into the lyric contest in early September, in hopes of getting some feedback on his lyrics. Soapbox Song, one of JF’s more political songs, was written about American Foreign Policies, and was well received by the panel of judges, who were also aware of its heavy content. JF was the only Canadian to place in the top ten.
09.30.05: Photo shoot in the bag, great results, we wont be negative
Local artist Louis Labrecque, who’s also doing artwork and sketches for the CD and website, went out with JF for a day of picture taking. Remote locations like the woods and waterfalls on the side of Mount Orford (Eastern Townships ski resort) and Frasier Lake’s trails were chosen for the shoot, which ties in with the theme of the album… The water was cold, and the hillside was steep, but at the end of the day, we have a great set of pictures. A special thanks to Louis’ girlfriend, Josée, for taking the time out of her schedule to come and help with the shoot, and taming JF’s hair!!
